Oh! It is Tibet!

Before we begin our journey let me tell you some basic information about Tibet.


  • Tibet is an autonomous region of China; also is the second largest province in China by area. It spanning over 1,200,000 square kilometers (460,000 sq mi). The capital city is Lhasa.

  • Tibet is located on the Tibetan Plateau, which is the highest region on earth. The average altitude is over 4,572 meters (15,000 ft). Mount Everest (8848 m; 29,029 ft) is located there.

  • Tibet is divided into seven prefecture-level divisions. Chengguan District and Samzhubzê District are two prefecture-level cities. Gar County, Nagqu County, Chamdo County, Nêdong County and Nyingchi County are the five prefectures.

  • The language they used is Tibetan and Mandarin Chinese.

  • The Namtso Lake, Yamdrok Lake, and Manasarovar Lake are three largest sacred lakes in Tibet.

  • Tibet has more than 1700 temples. Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Tashilhunpo Monastery are the most famous temples. It also has 4 mosques and 1 Church.
  • 94% natives are Tibetan, others are ethnic group of Han, Monpa and Hui. Most of them are Buddhist.
